Partner content policy
Last changed 31 October 2026 · What changed
Some stories on the Guide are paid for by the brand they are about. They are always labelled, they are checked like every other story, and there is a limit to how many we run.
How you can tell
A partner story carries the words Partner content above its headline and again at the start of the text. Every link in it to the brand or anyone else outside the Guide is marked as sponsored, so search engines know it was paid for. The page's structured data says so too.
What a payment buys, and what it does not
A payment buys a place in the Partner content section, a story written to the Guide's standards, and the right to approve the facts about the brand. It never buys a place in a ranking, a review score, a Guide Approved badge or a mention in an editorial story.
The same checks
Partner stories go through the same fact checks and the same quality judge as editorial stories, and a person approves each one before it is published. A claim the brand makes about itself is attributed to the brand. A story that fails a check is not published, whatever was paid.
A limit on how many
Partner stories are capped at a share of the pages we publish: 10 per cent to start, rising by 5 points for each of three measures (the quality of partner stories, whether readers stay on them, and the health of the whole site) to no more than 25 per cent of the site and 30 per cent of any one section. If search engines show a problem, new partner stories are published without being indexed until the editor has reviewed.
